Wearables in healthcare Technology

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) conducted research on the Mandi market to examine the responsible factors that are influencing a group of people in the adoption of wearable
items for personal healthcare. They use mathematical models for analyzing collected survey data to measure the efficiency of the online reviews’ strategy.

IIT research team found that from the 1st wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the public increased the use of such medical technologies as oximeters to measure blood oxygen
levels, smartwatches, and fitness trackers for reminders, recommendations, and to display health-related data.

Another factor found was suggestions by former mandi customers. With the development  of Web 2.0 technology, consumers can now easily express their reviews and
recommendations within less time on social media platforms and official websites. But before Web 2.0, people utilized Word-of-Mouth (WOM) method.

Also, Researchers conducted a survey on 434 customers who use wearable technology using by Partial Least Square Structural (PLSS) Equation Modeling method to analyze the
collected data. Dr. Saumya Dixit said IIT is working on an integrated model based on people’s behavior, public influence, and elderly people’s beliefs to understand the
relationship between online reviews and the adoption of medical wearable technologies.

Research analysis concludes that people reading reviews of users with the same background and requirements, along with information on wearable technology’s usability
and the company’s reputation, all these factors influence potential users to decide to adopt wearable healthcare technologies.
