Soon Audible App coming to Samsung Wear OS
Samsung recently concluded its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 26, where they introduced their latest products. Among them were two new foldable phones: the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
Additionally, the event showcased the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, the next generation of smartwatches, and the Galaxy Tab S9 series, a new line of tablets.
During the event, Samsung announced that the Audible app would soon be available for Wear OS, allowing users to browse and download audiobooks and control playback directly from their smartwatches.
However, an official release date for the Audible app for Wear OS has yet to be decided.
In other news, Meta (previously known as Facebook) also announced the event. They revealed a dedicated WhatsApp app for smartwatches on Google’s Wear OS.
With this app, users can reply to messages and take VoIP calls directly from their smartwatches without needing their phones to be connected.
Among the newly launched products, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 stood out as the most giant foldable phone the company has released. While it didn’t have significant upgrades in terms of performance, it did feature improvements in design and display.
Notably, the hinge design was improved to leave no gap when folded, and the main 7.6-inch screen’s peak brightness was increased to 1750 nits, matching that of the Galaxy S23 series launched earlier in the year. The phone also has the latest Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection. Under the hood, the Z Fold 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
In summary, Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event brought an exciting lineup of new foldable smartwatches and tablets while revealing upcoming app integrations for Wear OS devices.
