Smart Compose: Google Extends Predictive Writing to Chat

Google has expanded its smart compose feature from Gmail and Docs to Google Chat powered by machine learning. Users may now write messages faster and effortlessly thanks to this new functionality.

Suggesting relevant phrases as users type saves time by reducing repetitive writing. Moreover, the smart composition also helps to minimize spelling and grammar mistakes.

The firm has now included this function to Google Chat’s on the web platform. The steps below can be used to enable or disable custom suggestions in “smart compose”:

At the top right corner of your Google interface, the setting symbol will be shown, click on it and select “See all settings.”

Click on the Settings icon located in the top right corner then choose “See all settings.” Scroll down to the “General” option and find “Smart Compose personalization” option. Choose “Personalization on” or “Personalization off” based on your preference and you’re done.

The Smart Compose suggestions make it easier to communicate with colleagues and keep conversations or projects moving smoothly.

When you find a suggestion that fits your message, click the “tab” button to complete the sentence effortlessly.

The smart compose tool is available to anyone who uses Google Workspace and has a personal Google Account. While admins don’t have control over this feature, they can set a default value for it.

Regarding the rollout timeline, Google has already made the feature available to all users. For scheduled release domains, which may take up to 15 days for feature visibility, the rollout will begin on June 26.
