Eutelsat Postpone Programmers in Russia and Iran will hit Financial

PARIS on 22nd December (Reuters) — Eutelsat (ETL.PA) will be hit with a loss of between 10 and fifteen millions euro ($16 million) in its full-year earnings due to the cancellation of several programs on television that were broadcast in Russia and Iran The company announced.

The decision to cease carrying three Russian programs, as well as the end of all broadcasting in Iran will result in its EBITDA operating profit between 15 and 15 millions of euro ($15.96 -21.28 millions) and decrease cash flow by about 10-million euros.

Eutelsat stated in a statement that it had been able to end all involvement with the the three Russian channels: Rossiya One, Pervyi Kanal and NTV following France’s Arcom regulator of television requested Eutelsat to take the decision.

“Eutelsat has also ensured that it is not involved in the broadcasting of RT News in Russia,” it added.

The company’s decision to stop broadcasting activities relating to Iran resulted from an European Union regulation this month.
