Russian Leaky MS-22 Spacecraft Returns to Earth

Remember, the Russian spacecraft “Soyuz capsule MS-22” intended to return to Earth carrying three NASA astronauts, faced the first coolant leakage in December 2022, which was captured on video.

The main reason behind coolant leakage was the micrometeoroid impact and the rise in the internal temperature of Soyuz so that it could not travel back to Earth.

The Russian space agency Roscosmos reported that the Russian spacecraft MS-22 landed on Earth from the International Space Station (ISS) with a smooth de-orbiting and landing.

The Soyuz MS-22 lift from its docking port on the Russian-built Rassvet module in the ISS without humans at around 5:57 am EDT (Eastern Daylight Time).

Further received information from the agency added that the spacecraft transferred 218 kg of cargo from the ISS, including the outcomes of scientific studies and equipment for study or reuse.

One of the astronauts, a Russian, Anna Kikina, took pictures and video of the MS-22’s outer damaged body using a camera on a manipulator attached to the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module and sent it to Earth for study.

The spacecraft will now be examined to know more about the back story of the coolant leak and how a landing without coolant might help in future missions.
